Cross Country Checkup·SUNDAY ON CHECKUP

Should future generations be banned from buying tobacco?

Checkup wants to know if future generations should be banned from buying tobacco. Also, a high school guidance counsellor joins us to answer questions about what's next for young Canadians following their graduation.

How did you manage to quit smoking?

Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador are considering banning future generations from ever being allowed to buy tobacco. Do you think this approach will work? And how did you manage to quit smoking?
Imagine a tobacco free generation...

Prince Edward Island is considering an idea that would see tobacco banned for anyone born after January 1st, 2009.

The provincial government in Newfoundland and Labrador is considering a similar policy.

It would mean that tobacco would, in effect, be phased out of those provinces over the following decades.

It's a bold plan that's been considered in places like the UK and New Zealand.

This Sunday Checkup is asking: Should future generations be banned from buying tobacco? How did you manage to quit smoking?

And it's graduation season here -- which means many young Canadians will soon be asking 'what's next'?

Don't miss our Ask Me Anything... We've got a career coach and a high school guidance counsellor joining us to help answer those questions.
