What is the future for the police and race relations?

Police killings in Louisiana and Minnesota; deadly sniper attacks targeting officers in Dallas. What are your thoughts on events of this week and what they mean for race relations in North America? 

 
It happened in Falcon Heights, a suburb of Minnesota, on Wednesday. After the shooting of her boyfriend, Philando Castile, Diamond Reynolds live streamed the immediate aftermath on Facebook. In the background you could hear the sound of her four-year-old daughter, Dae'Anna, comforting her mother after the shooting.

The video shows the officer still aiming his gun through the car window after Castile was shot four times, his t-shirt drenched in blood.  

It left many people wondering, how does a traffic stop lead to the death of a man at the hands of police?

Just 24 hours before Castile's death, an altercation with police outside a convenience store ended with the shooting death of 37-year-old year old Alton Sterling. He was pinned down by police and shot in the chest.​

The outrage and emotion had Black Lives Matter protesters out on the streets of major American cities, ​including Dallas.​And the tumultuous week culminated with sniper fire at a peaceful demonstration in that city.

Five officers dead. Seven more wounded. Two civilians hurt.

America is still coming to grips with these recent tragedies. It's put the country's race problem back ​into the spotlight.   

But some say it's not just in the States. Racism is a real issue in Canada too, when it comes to police and the black community.  

After the police killings of two black men in Baton Rouge and Minnesota, the shootings of twelve officers in Dallas, and with tensions still high - protests continuing and reports of police clashes in a number of US cities  - what does it all mean for race relations in North America? Where do we go from here?"
