Day 6

Why do we love superheroes so much?

It seems you can't walk past a movie theatre without seeing at least one superhero film poster on the wall - from the Avengers to Batman vs. Superman. But what's the appeal? We talk to a real life superhero and a clinical psychologist.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" hit theatres on Friday March 25.

It's the latest in a long line of superhero movies, and just the beginning for 2016.

This year, you can expect new releases from the Captain America, X-Men, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchises.

Clinical Psychologist Robin Rosenberg has given a lot of thought to why we love superheroes so much and what they do for us.

She's the editor of Our Superheroes, Ourselves and she thinks there's more to our relationship with the caped crusaders than action figures and fight sequences.

Chris Pollak as his costumed alter ego, Dark Guardian

We also hear from Chirs Pollak. His relationship to superheroes is closer than most... Pollack is a so-called Real Life Superhero. He teaches martial arts by day and patrols the streets of Brooklyn by night as his costumed alter ego "Dark Guardian."
