From the start of his NHL career, Gordie Howe was the Detroit Redwings. And by the end of it, the legendary "Number 9" had set virtually every scoring record imaginable.

In 1971, Howe retired for two years, only to make a major comeback with the Houston Aeros -- joining the same WHA team as his sons Marty and Mark.

In 1979 at the age of 52, Howe rejoined the NHL for one more season. He made his final scoring goal in the NHL on April 9th, 1980, after taking a pass from his son Mark.

Over the span of his five decades on the ice, Howe scored 801 times. He is a 23-time NHL All-Star, and continues to hold the NHL records for most games and seasons played.
