Brexit uncertainty may be giving new purpose to militant groups in Northern Ireland

What happens after Brexit remains a major question for everyone in the U.K. — especially Northern Ireland.

What happens after Brexit remains a major question for everyone in the U.K. — especially Northern Ireland. A hard exit could jeopardize the territory's open border with the Republic of Ireland and the peace deal that brought an end to the Troubles in jeopardy.

Dan Haverty, an editorial fellow at Foreign Policy magazine, has been tracking the New Irish Republican Army's activity in Northern Ireland. He says the uncertainty over Brexit is providing the paramilitary group with a sense of purpose.
