He was an unexpected choice made by the 133 Cardinals who emerged Thursday from the conclave, an ancient and secretive ritual, to elect the successor to Pope Francis. The man behind the world's most notorious website for non-consensual, AI-generated porn of real people is, CBC News has learned, is a hospital pharmacist from just outside of Toronto. His site, MrDeepFakes, was the world's most popular site for "deepfake" porn, hosting tens of thousands of non-consensual and sometimes violent fake videos and images of celebrities, politicians, social media influencers and private citizens, including Canadians. What do you want to know about "deepfakes" and what can be done to keep your images safe online? Hany Farid is a professor at the University of California and a member of the Berkeley Artificial Intelligence Lab and Suzie Dunn is a professor of law at Dalhousie University, specializing in technology. They'll take your questions!
