A Native hip-hop duo talks 'red rage'
For indigenous youth, acts of rebellion can often be interpreted as acts of 'red rage'. It's a controversial term that refers to anger rooted in things like intergenerational trauma and colonization.
The big question is - what do you do with that feeling?
It's something Travis Hebert and Craig Frank Edes - also known as the hip-hop duo Mob Bounce - have discussed a lot.
"I believe that we all go through 'red rage' at one point on our process to enlightenment," says Craig.
"It's like that intergenerational trauma… [is] rising to the surface, toxins rising to the surface," says Travis. "That moment of 'red rage' is when we realize that we're holding on to more than we know. And that's why that anxiety or that anger existed."
Travis and Craig have known each other since grade school - brought together by some 'sweet Spiderman toys'. But these days it's music that keeps them close. Take a listen to some of their tunes here.
