The curious connection between William Shatner, KD and one Canadian kid

Six-year-old Everett Botwright's favourite foods are candy, pretzels and Kraft Dinner. But not just any Kraft Dinner. He likes the limited edition Star Wars version with noodles shaped like the Millennium Falcon and R2-D2. Botwright is on the autism spectrum, and as his dad, Reed Botwright explained, sensory processing issues have caused him to gradually pare down the list of foods he's willing to eat.

When he started eating the Star Wars boxed pasta, the family was thrilled. At least until they ran out and couldn't find anymore. So Botwright decided to harness the power of his social media accounts and ask if anyone in his network had an extra box or two.

They started to hear from friends and watching shares start to climb. When a friend of a friend tagged William Shatner in a tweet, the actor retweeted it and tagged Kraft Canada.

As the attention spread, store owners, Kraft reps and people who saw the request started shipping boxes and crates to the Botwright family.

After receiving hundreds and hundreds of boxes, the family is well stocked for awhile.

"We're just so humbled ... and appreciative and overwhelmed. It's been amazing," Botwright said.

"Our little six-year-old is just about to turn seven and I don't think he really has an appreciation for what this is but we as parents definitely do. Not just by getting the Kraft Dinner, but also from having him see how much love there is out there."
