The final playlist: saying "goodbye"

This week, we say "goodbye" by sharing one last podcast playlist.

After almost 400 episodes, six hosts and many (many) hours of podcast listening, Podcast Playlist's run is coming to an end.

For our final episode we wanted to share one final podcast playlist with you. A playlist to answer the question we are most frequently asked: what is your favourite podcast episode of all time?

As we sign off, we cannot emphasize enough how much we have truly loved working together—and working on this show has been a career highlight for all of us. Through it all we've been supported by our loyal and engaged listeners who sent us poetry and postcards, used our episodes as teaching aids in the classroom, and gave us far more podcast recommendations than we could ever play on the show.

Here's a memory from our former host Matt Galloway that sums up our feelings:

"It was a great run and the program lived out well ahead of the pack—a great space to occupy. I've told some of you this before—a few years ago I was in the Arizona desert, visiting my parents. We were hiking, middle of nowhere, and a car drove by. It was playing Podcast Playlist. Good work travels!"

The Truth (Kate's pick): A man has a nervous breakdown on his dentist's voicemail.

Mystery Show (Julian's pick): "A young boy finds an enchanting object in the street."

The Moth (Kelsey's pick): "Dame Wilburn has a startling encounter with Darth Vader."

The Nod (Leah's pick): "Every year, descendants of both enslaved people and slave owners come together for a family reunion. The darker side of their shared past remains hidden underneath the celebrations and pleasantries. Until one year, when Ever Lee Hairston says two words that break decades of silence."
