Drake makes cryptic album announcement, shows support for victims of Humboldt tragedy

In a pair of cryptic Instagram posts, Canadian rapper Drake has announced the release of his next project, Scorpion.

One post features Drake wearing a jacket with "Scorpion" and "June Twenty Eighteen" written on the back. The other features an ornate ring with a scorpion on it. 

Although it's unclear what form the project will take — in the past he has hinted at everything from EPs to playlists to singles — Rolling Stone has confirmed that Scorpion is the title of the rapper's upcoming album.

The announcement comes fresh off two huge successes for the Torontonian — the single "God's Plan," which came with an unforgettable video that featured Drake giving huge sums of money to individuals, schools and other institutions, and the follow-up single "Nice For What," both of which skyrocketed to the top of the Billboard charts. The star-studded video for "Nice For What" also went viral.

Drake's last project, More Life, was released in March 2017, and wrapped up with the line "I'll be back 2018 to give you the summary."

This weekend, Drake also paid his respects to the victims of the Humboldt Broncos tragedy, sporting a Broncos jersey at a Toronto Raptors game at Toronto's Air Canada Centre. The crowd cheered loudly as Drake stood to show his support for the players and their communities.

After the game, Drake and the Raptors signed the jersey, which will be sold to raise funds for the families affected by the tragedy.
