A new book about legendary Canadian songwriter Gordon Lightfoot is due to be published this fall. Simply entitled Lightfoot, the book is written by Nicholas Jennings, music critic and feature writer for Maclean's from 1980 to 2000 and author of Before the Goldrush, a book about Toronto's music scene in the '60s.

Jennings had "unprecedented access" to Lightfoot and his book will cover the musician's entire life — from making recordings as a child, to falling into a coma at the age of 63 — while analyzing the height of Lightfoot's musical success in between.

A few months ago, Lightfoot spoke with q host Tom Power, and among other things he talked about his longevity as a live performer over his five-decade career.

Lightfoot will be published on Sept. 26, 2017.
