How Yamantaka // Sonic Titan conceptualised a film to create their third record, Dirt

When a band gets together to make a record, they typically write some songs, experiment a bit, fine-tune their sound and then head into the studio. Yamantaka // Sonic Titan tossed that blueprint out the window. Before they even wrote a note of music, Yamantaka // Sonic Titan developed a movie. They conceptualised a narrative with stunning visuals, big characters and detailed plot points, but instead of filming it, they took all that inspiration and headed into the recording studio. The result is the group's third album, Dirt. Alaska B, the founder and drummer of the band, dropped by the q studio to take listeners through this unlikely, but useful, approach.
