Comedian Jean Paul reacts to Bill Cosby's guilty verdict

Yesterday, a jury in Pennsylvania found Bill Cosby guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, a woman from Toronto, in 2004. Several other women have made similar accusations against him, including five who testified during his trial. This is the first big celebrity conviction for sexual assault in the so-called #MeToo era.

Many celebrities took to Twitter to express their thoughts on the verdict. Actor Rose McGowan, one of the women who has been at the forefront of the #MeToo movement said, "Cosby is guilty. I'm sorry if you loved a lie. His victims can now exhale. Thank you judge and jury. Thank you society for waking up." Actor Jessica Chastain said, "Just because you're rich and powerful doesn't mean another person's body is automatically available for sex. Consent must be given."

For a lot of people, this is more than the story of a powerful man convicted of a serious crime. It's about the downfall of an incredibly important figure, especially to black entertainers. Comedian Jean Paul joins guest host Jael Richardson live from our studio in Halifax to share his reaction.
