Andrea Berloff wants you to rethink who can be a mob boss in her new film The Kitchen
When you think of the most beloved gangster movies of all time, you may think of Marlon Brando in The Godfather or Al Pacino in Scarface. But a new film coming out this month wants you to rethink what a mob boss looks like.
The Kitchen is a story about three housewives whose husbands run the Irish mafia in New York in the '70s. When the FBI sends the men to prison, their wives decide to take over.
The director of the film, Andrea Berloff, joined q guest host Laurie Brown to talk about the film and why she wanted to explore what it's like when women are put in charge, both on and off screen.
The Kitchen hits theatres on Friday, Aug. 9.
