'Every punch is a piece of dialogue': Hong Kong actor Philip Ng on channelling the late Bruce Lee
It's been more than 40 years since Bruce Lee was introduced to North American audiences, but the Hong Kong-born actor remains arguably the greatest icon of martial arts cinema.
He helped establish the genre, and although he died tragically at the age of 32, at the height of his success, his legacy onscreen and off is still felt today.
A new film takes a look at the days before a particular incident in Bruce Lee's life that remains shrouded in mystery: a fight he had with Chinese martial artist Wong Jack Man, who was rumoured to have disliked Lee's teaching of martial arts to Caucasians. Birth of a Dragon stars actor Philip Ng, an acclaimed martial artist in his own right.
Ng talks to Tom Power about what it means to take on the role of someone he reveres.
