Madeleine Thien and Catherine Leroux take the reins for Canadian issue of Granta

Canadian authors Madeleine Thien and Catherine Leroux were tapped to edit the Canadian issue of the British literary magazine, Granta. They discuss the process of sorting through 1,000 submissions.

One of Britain's most prestigious literary magazines is honouring Canada. Granta's upcoming issue will be entirely devoted to Canada, highlighting new works of fiction, poetry, memoir and photography from a range of Canadian writers and photographers. Author's Madeleine Thien and Catherine Leroux were tapped as the issue's editors. Today, they'll talk to guest host Ali Hassan about the long but rewarding process of going through over 1,000 submissions and share some of the wonderful pieces they discovered. 

Granta will be hosting a number of upcoming events in Canada, including: 

Nov. 24 - Banff Centre for the Arts
Nov. 25 - Calgary, Wordfest
Nov. 30 - Montreal, Drawn & Quarterly
Dec. 2 - Victoria, Munro's Books
