Theatre director Mumbi Tindyebwa Otu on seeing her own story reflected in Claudia Dey's play Trout Stanley

From The Brothers Size to Oraltorio: A Theatrical Mixtape, award-winning theatre director Mumbi Tindyebwa Otu has led critically-acclaimed plays that centre around what it means to be black. Her latest play is a re-staging of playwright Claudia Dey's Trout Stanley. It's a comedy-thriller about a mysterious man who shakes up the lives of twin sisters in a small town in Northern B.C. and Otu is staging it with a cast of all black actors. She joined q's Tom Power live in studio to talk about putting her own spin on the play's story for a new production that's running now at Toronto's Factory Theatre until Sunday, Nov. 10.
