Faouzia is an 18-year-old powerhouse singer-songwriter from Manitoba. She'll often say she comes from Winnipeg, but if you want to get specific, she grew up in the small town of Carman. Her family moved there from Morocco when she was just a toddler.

These days, Faouzia is bowling people over with her incredible voice, and when she's not writing, performing or recording new music, she's studying math, physics and chemistry in university.

She sat down with Tom Power in the q studio to discuss what it's like to launch her music career while continuing to forge ahead with her studies.

Below, watch Faouzia perform two original songs for us on the grand piano in the q studio.
