The silence has been broken! Actor, filmmaker and "wannabe Canadian" Kevin Smith takes the microphone for the second instalment of surprise celebrity guest host Thursdays.

Smith's extensive filmography includes irreverent comedies -- MallratsClerks, Dogma, Chasing AmyJay and Silent Bob Strike Back -- but also darker films, like his 2014 horror flick set in the Canadian wilderness, Tusk

Today Smith steps into the ring with the Q sports panel, sheds light on filmmaking process, and talks teen drama with the co-creator of Degrassi.

A bit of context

The search for a permanent new host of Q has been a multi-layered but rewarding process. We're happy to confirm that we have a short list of candidates, partly informed by your #QtheFuture feedback, and are just weeks away from the big reveal.

As we near the end of this transition period, we've got another twist for loyal listeners. As of last week, we've been handing the mic to surprise celebrity guest hosts on Thursdays. The inaugural stint went to award-winning Canadian soprano Measha Brueggergosman -- an opera star, concert artist and pop music singer.

Stay tuned for more exciting names in weeks to come!
