La La Land, Moonlight and more: 2017 Oscar nominees on q
With the 89th Academy Awards coming up on Sunday (Feb. 26), it's a good time to look back at the Oscar-nominated films that have been featured on q recently.
La La Land
La La Land, the musical starring Canadian actor Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, leads the way with 14 nominations. Gosling was nominated for best actor for his role as a jazz musician in the film.
Back in November, La La Land director Damien Chazelle not only stopped by q to talk about the film, but he also presented his gateway to jazz for newbies to the music. Listen to the interviews below.

Moonlight
Moonlight director Barry Jenkins spoke with q host Tom Power back in September when the film screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The film went on to garner eight Oscar nominations including best picture, best supporting actor for Mahershala Ali's performance and a best director nod for Jenkins himself. Watch the q interview below.
Arrival
Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve's space film Arrival was also nominated for eight Academy Awards.
The film was based on a novel by science fiction writer Ted Chiang. Chiang spoke with q in December about the film adaptation of his novel.
Manchester by the Sea
Manchester by the Sea director Kenneth Lonergan also stopped by q to discuss his film which received six Oscar nominations.
The Academy recognized the film with a best actor nomination for Casey Affleck, best picture and a best director nomination for Lonergan. Listen to the q interview with Lonergan below.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
The latest film in the Star Wars franchise, Rogue One was nominated for two Academy Awards for best sound mixing and best visual effects.
Rogue One star Riz Ahmed stopped by the q studio in December to chat about the mythology behind the Star Wars films.
