The Long War takes home Searchlight 2017 title
The Vancouver band beat out thousands of entrants to become this year's winner of the CBC Music competition.
When Jarrett Lee found out his band, the Long War, had just won the 2017 Searchlight competition, he blacked out for a moment.
"I had some flashbacks, I screamed, I thought about my family ... it was just so unreal," he tells Tom Power on today's show.
Vancouver's the Long War beat out thousands of entrants to come out on top of CBC's annual search for Canada's next big act. This is a considerably big accomplishment for the band, which has only played four live shows together so far.
So what are the band's next goals, post-Searchlight? "Our next immediate step is to record an album!" member Chad Gilmour reveals.
