You might know actor John Cho as Sulu from the recent Star Trek movies or Harold from Harold and Kumar. In his new film, Searching, he plays a dad trying to track down his daughter. While this may be a familiar premise, the film becomes almost unrecognisable, because everything the audience sees unfolds through a computer screen, phone or TV.

Cho talks to q guest host Ali Hassan about the challenges of acting for a webcam, how his approach to acting has changed since his memorable cameo in American Pie, and whether or not he sees himself as a leading man. Searching hits theatres Friday, August 31.
