Lisa LeBlanc doesn't just blend genres, she blends cultures. Acadian and English; bluegrass and rock; folk and metal — that genre-culture mashup is paying off for LeBlanc with that all important combination: critics and audiences.
She picked up a Juno nomination this past year and is on the short list for the Polaris Music Prize for her latest record, Why You Wanna Leave, Runaway Queen?
LeBlanc performed a few songs from that album when she came by the q studio recently. She talked about having the freedom to play around with her music, whether it's jamming out on the banjo or having the last word after a breakup through a song. Tune in and hear just why this singer-songwriter is an award-nominated name to keep an eye out for.
