Jason "Poo Bear" Boyd may not be a household name but you've probably heard his music. Boyd, a Grammy-winning songwriter, has a close relationship with Justin Bieber, one of Canada's most successful musical artists of the past few years.

Boyd worked with Bieber on his 2013 album Journals, and co-wrote two of the singer's biggest hits — "Where Are U Now" and "What Do You Mean?" — both featured on Bieber's 2015 album Purpose, which was nominated for album of the year at this year's Grammys.

Poo Bear: Afraid of Forever, a new documentary on Boyd's career, has recently became available on Red Bull TV. (See below.) Today on q, Tom Power talks to Boyd about his relationship with Bieber, his creative process and how he assumes various roles behind the scenes.
