When you're a comedian from New Zealand, making it on the standup world stage doesn't come without challenges. First of all, you're far away from any of the international comedy meccas. Second, there's also the chance that audiences abroad might not get your sense of humour. But, for Rhys Darby, none of that held him back. In fact, he has made a name for himself as one of the most distinctive voices in comedy today.

Some may remember Darby from his breakout role as band manager Murray Hewitt in the HBO series Flight of the Conchords. Since then, he's gone on to star in a bunch of comedy flicks, including Yes Man, Trolls and the upcoming Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. His latest work on the small screen includes the Netflix animated series, Voltron, and the airplane disaster comedy show, Wrecked

Today, Darby speaks to guest host Ali Hassan about his brand of comic genius.
