It's been called a breakthrough in Asian-American representation, but before there was Crazy Rich Asians, there was The Joy Luck Club. The 1993 film was based on the bestselling novel by Amy Tan. It had a mostly Asian cast and told an Asian-American story. As the movie turns 25 years old this month, you'll hear a q oral history about the challenges of getting the movie made, and how for the cast and crew, the film was always about the love between mothers and daughters.
