This weekend, the Carlton Theatre in Toronto is raising money for charity with an unusual movie marathon. They're calling it Cage/Off and fans are being challenged to watch Nicolas Cage movies ... for nine hours straight.

There's no question that as an actor, Cage polarizes critics. His haters call him an over-acting ham. His fans — including the late great Roger Ebert — hold him up as one of the best actors of his generation.

Today, two film critics debate one of the greatest questions in film (and memes) — Nicolas Cage: good or bad?

  • On the "pro" side is Nathan Rabin, who calls Cage a larger-than-life character that makes the world a better place, and "maybe the most entertaining bad actor in all of the world."
  • On the "con" (Air?) side is the New York Post's Kyle Smith, who calls the idea of nine hours of Nic Cage "sounds like some sort of human rights violation."
