• Toronto JUNO-nominated pop singer/songwriter Royal Wood performs live from his latest record The Burning Bright, and talks about the period of creative rediscovery he went through, 10 years into his career, to arrive at this album. 

• Jian speaks with Guardian reporter Alec Luhn about Russia's recent ban on swearing in film, theatre and TV, what it reflects about Russian culture today. 

• A preview of tonight's contentious Munk Debate in Toronto, about state surveillance as a "legitimate defence of our freedoms." Investigative journalist and groundbreaking NSA reporter Glenn Greenwald says "basic political liberties" are in jeopardy; former CIA director and retired U.S. general Michael Hayden says such surveillance is necessary. Jian mediates the discussion. 

• Alison Loat and Michael MacMillan founders of the non-partisan think tank Samara, talk to Jian about their book "Tragedy in the Commons." They conducted 80 exit interviews with former MPs of all political stripes, and discovered some commonalities about the way politics works -- and serves the public -- in Canada.
