Leonard Cohen (1934-2016)
Legendary Canadian musician Leonard Cohen has died at the age of 82.
In a statement released by Cohen's son Adam yesterday, he said: "My father passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles with the knowledge that he had completed what he felt was one of his greatest records. He was writing up until his last moments with his unique brand of humour."
Last month, Cohen released his 14th studio album, You Want It Darker. It marked the first time Leonard and Adam worked together on a record.
In an interview with q, Adam opened up about his experience working with, and for, his father, revealing both times of pain and joy for them two. He also spoke on the legacy of his father, saying: "He's the last of his kind. Unlike so many from that golden era, from which he comes, he's not a nostalgic act. This guy is speaking from his particular rung in life — he will be leaving a giant void when he leaves us."
On today's episode of q, we will be celebrating the life of Leonard Cohen.
We will speak live with guests including Patrick Leonard, Canadian Heritage Minister Melanie Joy, Andrew Cohen and more.
