Today, diversity reigns supreme at several awards shows, as #OscarsSoWhite dominates the discussion ahead of the Academy Awards.

  • The 22nd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Saturday featured several people of colour among its list of winners, including Queen Latifah, Uzo Aduba, Viola Davis and Idris Elba (twice).
  • Historical slave rebellion drama The Birth of a Nation, a movie with a black director and a mostly black cast, took both the U.S. drama grand jury prize and the Audience Award at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.
