The Frightnrs open up about heartbreaking recording process

The Frightnrs' singer Dan Klein never got to hold his debut records in his hands. 

In the months leading up to the completion of his band's album, Nothing More To Say, Klein was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease. While the band finished the album, Klein died just before the record came out in Sept.

Even before his diagnosis, keyboardist Chuck Patel could see a noticeable difference in his health: "During the whole recording process, Dan was physically getting sicker and sicker."

While the album's producer was able to piece together parts of Klein's vocals together for the final product, Patel admits that it's still hard to listen to those songs now.

"It was just heartbreaking," Patel says, of that time in the studio. "It was hard to see the positivity of everything when everything was kind of gloomy in that sense [...] It was probably one of the hardest things we had to do."  

Of hearing Klein's voice on the songs, Patel adds, "You just feel his pain, you feel his emotions, you feel his words; just his tonality caps it off to make it perfect in a way."
