Low Down: Flea takes on big role in Joe Albany biopic
Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Michael Balzary on co-producing and acting in Low Down.
Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Michael Balzary, better known as Flea, joins guest host Tom Power to chat about the new film Low Down. The biopic centres on jazz legend Joe Albany's relationship with his daughter Amy-Jo and her tumultuous childhood in the 1970s.
Flea, who co-produced the film, opens up about taking on a bigger acting role, his impulse to honour 70s era jazz musicians, and the fine art of telling a coming-of-age story against the backdrop of drug-addicted adults.
