q at TIFF: Jeremy Irons on his brainy 'bromance' with Dev Patel

Jeremy Irons stars opposite Dev Patel in an inspirational biopic about a groundbreaking Indian mathematician.

Academy Award winning actor Jeremy Irons drops by studio q to discuss The Man Who Knew Infinity, an inspirational biopic about Srinivasa Ramanujan — an Indian mathematician who revolutionized the field and whose figures are still being worked on today.

Irons stars opposite Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire, Skins) as G.H. Hardy, Ramanujan's exacting and exasperating mentor. The unlikely pair find common ground in their love for the art of pure mathematics.

"Mathematics is the oil to the story but the story is — I think they say these days — a bromance," jokes Irons. "The film really is about the relationship between these two very disparate men."
