Suvendrini Lena merges the medical with the theatrical in the Enchanted Loom

Suvendrini Lena's two jobs may seem like polar opposites, but in fact they're actually kind of complementary. See, Lena is both a neurologist and a playwright. 

Transforming her medical knowledge to the stage, Lena has created her first play, The Enchanted Loom, dramatizing the psychological traumas of war. For Lena, it's important to humanize both medicine and doctors.

"Medical training asks us to step back from our own emotions in order to make rational decisions," Lena explains. "But on the other side, each of us have our own story, each of us are experiencing emotions."  

Lena's The Enchanted Loom is an opportunity for audiences to "sit with the emotions," to experience trauma collectively and thus, heal together as well.
