David Shore, the Canadian creator of the hit TV series House, joins Shad to discuss his latest show Battle Creek and what TV gets wrong about friendships between men.

Shore explains his approach to complicating TV tropes — like the diametrically-opposed "buddy cop" relationship — how friendship narratives strip away the "distractions" of sexual relationships, and how he imbues his characters with the complexities of real human beings.

"The wingman thing is fine, but there is an opportunity to do something more," says Shore.
