Update, Feb. 2, 2016: Wab Kinew will not return as host of Canada Reads in 2016. We thank Wab Kinew for his contribution to Canada Reads. We wish him all the best, and we'll announce a new host for Canada Reads 2016 soon.

Nothing makes the winter seem shorter than a long list of great books to read by spring! Today, Canada Reads host Wab Kinew returns to studio q to discuss the 2016 theme, starting over, and some of great reads that made the cut.

CBC's annual battle of the books pits well-known Canadians against one another as they make the case for one book the whole nation should read. (Of course, nothing prevents you from reading as many great titles as you can by March!)

"This is a time to celebrate Canadian writers," Kinew tells Shad, adding that the show highlights new authors and seasoned veterans alike.

Kinew also comments on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's final report.
