Mary Bridget Davies echoes Janis Joplin: "She was the mold and broke it."
Mary Bridget Davies has been performing on stage as Janis Joplin for longer than Janis Joplin did. When the actress and singer first started channelling Joplin — who died of a heroin overdose at the age of 27 — she was younger than the iconic singer. Now, she's ten years older.
Today the Tony-nominated actress joins Shad to discuss the stunning stage show A Night with Janis Joplin, her "physical and spiritual connectivity" with Joplin, and the artist's lesser-known lonely side.
She also reflects on the musical evolution and collaborations she wishes the world would have seen.
"I'm mad at her, because she should have been so much more," says Davies.
