Lita Ford got her first guitar at age 10, went to a Black Sabbath concert at 13, and joined groundbreaking band The Runaways at 16.

But despite her deep devotion and precocious talent, she wasn't always taken seriously as a female rock guitarist.

"The critics ... would sometimes think that there were other people playing the instruments," she recalls. "We were young girls and people couldn't wrap their heads around the fact that young girls were playing these instruments."

Still Ford, who doesn't mind the band's "jailbait" branding, takes the bad with the good, and fondly recalls the band's time as "troublemakers", travelling the world and upsetting expectations.

Today joins Shad to share highlights from her story, as chronicled in her page-turning memoir, Living Like a Runaway.
