With mischievous characters and scratchy illustrations, the works of British writer David Walliams recall those of the great Roald Dahl.

Walliams — also a comedian, TV presenter and Little Britain star — joins Shad to discuss his new children's book, Grandpa's Great Escape, and how to dole out the appropriate amount of mayhem for young minds.

He also reflects on how to talk to kids about the hard stuff, from loneliness to dementia.

"In my mind, the funny and the tragic are linked," says Walliams. "Humour shines a light on serious topics very well."
