Viceland's Abandoned explores broken down America

Rotting buildings. Empty amusement parks. Ghost towns. Vancouver's Rick McCrank reveals the physical side effects of unchecked capitalism.
Candy talks to skateboarder turned Vice TV host Rick McCrank about his series Abandoned. (Viceland)

Vancouver's Rick McCrank has been a professional skateboarder since the late '90s. But these days, he's rolling through spaces much larger — and more treacherous — than an empty swimming pool.

McCrank joins guest host Candy Palmater to discuss Abandoned. The new Viceland series takes us into deserted spaces all across America, revealing the physical side effects of unchecked capitalism. Think: the rotting buildings, empty amusement parks and ghost towns scarring the North American landscape.

The show also explores the psychological effects these structures have on the locals — and adds some crazy skateboarding tricks, for good measure.
