The National's Aaron Dessner on launching a new music streaming platform with his brother Bryce and Bon Iver

The National's Aaron and Bryce Dessner teamed up with Justin Vernon, also known as Bon Iver, to launch a new streaming service called PEOPLE — and it's not the only project the brothers have on the go right now.

Still riding high on the success of their last record, Sleep Well Beast, The National have been on the road all over the world this summer. For the band's twin brother guitarists, Aaron and Bryce Dessner, there's one festival coming up this month that's especially dear to their hearts.

Berlin's PEOPLE festival features more than 150 musicians spread out across eight rooms, all collaborating and improvising with each other. The Dessner brothers teamed up with their friend Justin Vernon, also known as Bon Iver, to get the festival off the ground, and it's not the only innovative project they have on the go right now.

PEOPLE is also the name of a new streaming service they're launching, to give musicians a platform to post collaborations, works-in-progress and other side projects that don't fit into their usual catalogue.

To tell us more about these exciting new projects, Aaron Dessner joins q guest host Ali Hassan live from a Chicago studio. Listen to the full conversation above.
