Pasek and Paul on bringing their hit musical Dear Evan Hansen to Toronto

Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are the Grammy, Tony and Academy award-winning songwriters behind the biggest musicals in film and on stage. Their songwriting credits include numbers in The Greatest Showman​, La La Land and the new Aladdin movie.

Now, their hit Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen is coming to Toronto for its first ever international production. The show won six Tonys for its groundbreaking discussion of bullying, loneliness and suicide, all while still managing to be upbeat and positive. 

Pasek and Paul join Tom Power live from New York to talk about the themes in Dear Evan Hansen, why musicals are striking a chord right now and what a good show needs to stay relevant and popular.

Rehearsals for the the Canadian run of Dear Evan Hansen have just started. The show opens in Toronto on March 5, 2019.
