The Late Late Show With James Corden is a relative newcomer to the late-night talk show circuit, but in his short time on-air he has become a viral sensation with his Carpool Karaoke videos.

But, like anyone working in media, James Corden relies on a strong team of writers and producers. For him, that includes Ian Karmel. Karmel is a staff writer on the Late Late Show and he is also a stand-up comic. This weekend, he will be performing at Toronto's Comedy Bar.

So, we asked Karmel for a story about what it's really like to work on a late-night talk show.
