Opera singer Renée Fleming on lending her voice to Julianne Moore in Bel Canto
Fleming discusses recording the singing parts for Julianne Moore's character in Bel Canto, and how the actor studied her mouth, movement and breath in the film.
A new film called Bel Canto stars Julianne Moore as an opera singer, but the character's singing voice belongs to soprano Renée Fleming.
Fleming is one of the biggest opera stars in the world. When she recorded the singing parts for this new film, Moore barely took her eyes off of her. The actor studied how her mouth moved, how she breathed and memorized it all for her own performance.
Fleming spoke with q's Tom Power to explain a bit more about her work on this film, and to look back to the start of her incredible, decades-long career. Bel Canto is in theatres now.
