Louise Penny is the best-selling Canadian author behind the character Armand Gamache, a police inspector from the quiet Quebec hamlet of Three Pines.

For more than 10 years, that setting has been the backdrop for some very strange and sometimes gruesome mysteries. And now, there's more trouble underway. Glass Houses is the 13th book in Penny's Inspector Gamache series, and this time she is pushing her traditionally clean-cut inspector into some pretty murky moral quandaries.

Penny talks to q's Tom Power about her latest foray into crime fiction.
