Elisapie thanks Inuk folk-singer Willie Thrasher for inspiration on new album The Ballad of the Runaway Girl
Inuk folk-pop singer-songwriter Elisapie joins guest host Laurie Brown live in the q studio to perform a few songs off her new record and talk about how she worked through her creative block.
Most artists know the feeling of being tired, tapped out and blocked — but every artist has a different way of recovering. For singer-songwriter Elisapie, what worked was a dive into classic Indigenous folk songs, especially the music of Inuk folk-singer Willie Thrasher. Now, she's back with a new album called The Ballad of the Runaway Girl. Today, Elisapie joins guest host Laurie Brown live in the q studio to perform a few songs off her new record and talk about how she worked through her creative block.
You can catch Elisapie on tour in Quebec and across Canada next month. The Ballad of the Runaway Girl is out Friday, September 14.
