Haviah Mighty is candidly speaking her truth as a young, Black female rapper in Canada

Haviah Mighty is one of Canada's most exciting new hip hop talents. The Polaris Prize-nominated rapper dropped by the q studio to perform a few songs from her new album, 13th Floor, a passionate record about her experience growing up as a young Black artist and self-described underdog who's worked hard for everything she's achieved.
"I've been rapping for many years and there was a time when I thought I could never speak my truth so candidly," said Mighty. "As a dark-skinned, Black female with dreads, my experience is very different from many and I think in Canada, especially, those experiences aren't always validated."
