How Star Jones turned her daytime drama into nighttime TV

Star Jones talks about Daytime Divas, her new television show inspired by her experiences on The View.

Twenty years after The View launched, original cast member Star Jones is producing a dramedy about daytime TV because she, more than anyone, knows how to mine the behind-the-scenes drama that she saw first hand.

The View was a groundbreaking concept that saw a panel of five women weigh in on hot topics of the day and interview celebrities, newsmakers and even presidents. Since it began airing there have been many similar shows, including The Talk, The Chew, The Real, and here in Canada, The Social

But the latest show to model itself on The View is entirely original because it's a nighttime TV drama. Airing on VH1 and Bravo in Canada, Daytime Divas is based on Star Jones' novel Satan's Sisters. It stars Vanessa Williams as a Barbara Walters-like character who helms a show very much like The View, except this time we get a taste of what's going on behind the scenes.

Executive producer Jones talks to q about turning her real life into fiction and very funny television.
