'We're busting myth!': Ser Anzoategui of Vida shatters the idea that Latinx stories are niche

For a long time, television shows kept their themes broad and accessible in an effort to capture the largest audience possible. Anything too specific about race, culture or sexuality was considered risky, but that's all changing now.

Vida is an award-winning television show that features hyper-specific references to Latin American culture. Set in East Los Angeles, it's about two sisters who discover that their dead mother was in a relationship with a woman named Eddy. 

One of the show's stars, Ser Anzoategui, dropped by the q studio to tell us what it's like to work on a show that's unapologetic about its storytelling.

Vida was featured at Toronto's Inside Out LGBT Film Festival, which wrapped up on Sunday, June 2.
