Kelly Oxford wants to normalize the conversations around sexual assault and anxiety
Kelly Oxford is on a mission to normalize things. From her own stresses to larger conversations about sexual assault, the social media influencer, screenwriter and author believes that being open, be it in a Tweet or in a book, can be cathartic.
"When you open up and you do share with other people and you realize that they're in the same boat as you, that's when it feels like the world isn't against you after all," she explains. "Not discussing it causes the anxiety to build in a dramatic way."
Oxford isn't afraid to open up, especially in her latest book of personal essays, When You Find Out the World is Against You (out now). This is Oxford's second book and she admits that she has learned a few things between her first and second releases. On dealing with negative reviews or opinions, she says of her approach this time, "I really just wrote the book for me. What do I want to write about that's going to help me?"
